Contrasts. During our recent cruise we saw a number of interesting contrasts. In Warnemunde, Germany we sailed into port and you could see a Nuclear Power station and its steam cloud. Not that far away were a large number of windmills also generating power. The old and “new” technologies. In Copenhagen there are 20 windmills placed in the harbour that work continuously. Another contrast to what we normally experience were the number of cities that had specific lanes for bicycles. In Copenhagen these lanes even had their own traffic lights at the intersections. Literally thousands of bikes are used daily for transport, even in winter. These lanes were so segregated that Karen and I took a four hour bike ride to the beaches on the outskirts of the city.
