Interpretation. Our language can so often lead (show the way or a metal) to confusion. Words can mean different things and the context in which they are spoken is so critical to our understanding of what is being said. This is particularly true in both personal and business matters as you can so easily end up with “I thought you meant, I heard you to say, I thought you were saying…and so on”. In sales a great strategy is to repeat back what has been said to the person saying it and ask – “Have I understood that correctly?” Being certain of what has been said can save a great deal of misunderstanding and time. Practice the feedback process to ensure effective interpretation.
