Shocks and surprises.
Karen and I finally took a few days vacation and went off to Cuba.
On our return we were advised that Karen's Dad had passed away suddenly
that afternoon. Although he had been having some challenges he was
planning his usual winter in Florida and so this news was one of
life's biggest speed bumps! Notwithstanding the profound sadness
it is wonderful to reflect on a life of adventure well lived. "Doc"
Schellinck was a pilot, a test pilot, and a person who sought new
adventures and new experiences. He had a very positive impact on
all who called him "Doc", Dad, husband, or friend. He
left a great legacy. Here in Bermuda they say "he had great
innings!" He did that and then some.
" If your contribution has been vital there will always be
somebody to pick up where you left off, and that will be your claim
to immortality."
